Ben Hart is a magician and magic designer, recognised for his unique and original approach to performance.
Beginning his career at an early age, Ben was awarded the prestigious Magic Circle's 'Young Magician of the Year' when he was just 16 years old. He collated memories of his first encounters with magic with other personal stories to create the one-man show The Outsider, playing Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013 to outstanding reviews; Time Out described him as ‘remarkably dextrous’, and a ‘powerful’ storyteller with ‘striking’ stage presence. This resulted in a Time Out TO&ST Cabaret Award nomination and a return to Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014 with the sold-out show, The Vanishing Boy.
Ben not only performs but also writes and invents magic. His role as magic designer has seen him create special effects and impossible illusions for theatre, film and television, whilst as a writer and director, he has worked with some of the world's top performers, regularly being called upon to provide creative, unique and rebellious ideas. He has also mentored everyone from aspiring and experienced magicians to business executives to Sir Ian McKellen.
Spring 2015 saw Ben star in new BBC3 series Killer Magic, a weekly show involving high stakes and death defying illusion where five young magicians scored each others' shocking, exciting and dangerous tricks in the hope of avoiding the Killer Trick – a notorious illusion that left a trail of fear and panic-ridden magicians in its wake. The series followed an extremely successful pilot episode watched by over a million people on the channel in 2014.
Following the success of the show, Ben then starred in Impossible; the biggest magic show in decades to grace the West-End. The exclusive show ran at the Noel Coward Theatre and featured the very best magicians and tricksters from around the world, fusing dazzling grand stage illusions, up- close-and-personal magic, cutting-edge technological tricks and death-defying escapology.
