DIARMAID MURTAGH takes a leading role opposite J.K. Simmons in action-thriller THE LAKE, from Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp. Written by Richard Wenk (THE EQUALIZER) and Besson, the story focuses on a group of Navy SEALs who search for mysterious treasure beneath a lake in war-torn Serbia. The film is set for release in January 2017.

This October he will play the role of ‘Frankie Mitchell’ in the true to life tale of a violent convict sprung from Dartmoor prison by the Kray twins in 1966 in THE MAD AXEMAN.  A gripping psychological tale, the story chronicles his escape and the aftermath, including the political storm over the lax security for a man once described as ‘Britain’s most violent convict’.

A towering Irish actor, he has, thus far, played important film roles in Universal’s DRACULA UNTOLD with Luke Evans, 20th Century Fox’s THE MONUMENTS MEN with Bill Murray, George Clooney and Matt Damon and GOOD PEOPLE with James Franco and Kate Hudson.

For television, Diarmaid’s credits are diverse, from The History Channel’s VIKINGS and Channel Four’s CAMELOT with Jamie Campbell Bower and Eva Green to SONS OF LIBERTY with Ben Barnes and Rafe Spall.
