On the 29th of September, London Film Festival ‘Best Actress’ and ‘Best Performance’ winner at this year’s Edinburgh International EMILY BEECHAM takes the leading role in DAPHNE, an independent feature from The Bureau - the production company behind award winning films such as Andrew Haigh’s WEEKEND and the acclaimed 45 YEARS, starring Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay, which dominated film festivals and award ceremonies throughout 2016.
DAPHNE is a vibrant character portrait of a young woman on the threshold of a much-needed change, and it showcases Emily’s “outstanding lead performance”(IndieWire) as the self-destructive Daphne and "makes a persuasive pitch for star status" (The Skinny). It premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival and most recently at Edinburgh International Film Festival, at which she won the award for ‘Best Performance in a Feature’.
Emily can also be seen to star in the AMC series INTO THE BADLANDS recently voted one of ‘The Best TV Shows of 2017 (so far)’ by Variety, is currently in its second season, where she plays the murderous martial artist, ‘The Widow’, and also as ‘Dierdre’ in the Coen brothers most recent hit feature HAIL, CAESER.
Emily won Best Actress at the London Independent Film Festival for her portrayal of ‘Joanna’ in THE CALLING, the story of a university student who leaves her course to become a nun. As well as her memorable turn in Oscar nominated HAIL CAESAR, she also featured in 28 WEEKS LATER, with Rose Byrne, Idris Elba and Jeremy Renner.
For television, Emily has taken key roles in some of our best loved and most acclaimed dramas including the TESS OF THE D’URBERVILLES with Eddie Redmayne and Gemma Arterton, THE MUSKETEERS and THE VILLAGE for the BBC, Jimmy McGovern’s THE STREET with Jim Broadbent and Timothy Spall and UNFORGIVEN for ITV.
