Emma Forrest's directorial debut UNTOGETHER premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2018 with The Wrap it a "frank, fresh un-rom-com". Starring Jamie Dornan, Jemima Kirke, Lola Kirke, Ben Mendelsohn and Billy Crystal. The story follows Andrea (Jemima Kirke), a recently sober writer whose career has stalled since she published her debut novel several years ago. She strikes up an affair with Nick (Jamie Dornan) a doctor-turned-writer who is hailed for his wartime memoir. At the same time her sister Tara (Lola Kirke) a massage therapist dating an aging rock star (Ben Mendelsohn) finds herself inexorably drawn to a newfound religious zeal and particularly to a politically engaged rabbi (Billy Crystal). The film will be released in the UK on July 12th.

In 2009, Emma was selected as one of the "10 Screenwriter to Watch" by Variety after her scripts Liars (A-E), Know Your Rights and Love Minus Zero were sold to Scott Rudin, Film4 and BBC Films respectively.

Emma started her writing career as a journalist with the column "Generation X" for the Sunday Times age 15. Since then she has gone to write three novels Namedropper (1998), Thin Skin (2002), Cherries in the Snow (2005) as well as her memoir Your Voice in My Head (2011).

Her new novel, ROYALS, will be published by Bloomsbury Books in October 2019. Devastating dazzling queer and radical Royals is a love story between unlikely friends from completely different worlds. It's about the power of art to transform lives and the power of families to destroy them. It's about working out who you are and what you want. It's a tale of giddy happiness crushing lows and ultimately the fragility of lives lived too fast.
